PMH Holds 2018/2019 AGM

Prairie Mountain Health (PMH) held its 2018/2019 Annual General Meeting (AGM) October 16 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre (BRHC). Emcee for the evening was Lee Jebb, PMH Board of Directors Chairperson.  Besides highlighting progress on various regional health programs and services, the 2018/2019 fiscal year (April 1-2018 to March 31, 2019) featured some major milestones that were noted in a detailed video presentation. Some of these included:

  • Completion of the $16.8 million dollar Brandon Regional Health Centre Redevelopment;
  • Ongoing progress on the $23 million Dauphin Regional Health Centre (DRHC) Redevelopment, (the new Emergency Department recently opened in July 2019);
  • The region’s Mobile Clinic, which was the first in the Province, also celebrated a benchmark of five years since beginning its travels within PMH back in 2014.
  • PMH continued to be a leader in Telehealth utilization with four of the top 10 provincial rural sites being from within the health region. Other highlights within the past year included:
  • The expansion of Dialysis services in Brandon for both the home peritoneal dialysis program and home hemodialysis;
  • Opening of the Brandon Rapid Access to Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinic at 7th Street Health Access Centre;
  • Expanding access to Primary Care services including increasing the number of Nurse Practitioners in the region to 20.
  • Recruiting 17 new physicians, including specialists in certain areas, along with one new physician assistant to provide care within the region;
  • The start of the region’s second MRI unit within DRHC.

The evening concluded with an open question and answer period with a panel made up of Lee Jebb (PMH Board Chair), Penny Gilson, (CEO of PMH), Dr. Wright along with Ian Shaw.

Audited Financial Statements

The audited financial statements showed that PMH finished the fiscal year with a small surplus of $447,000.

Patient Centered Care Awards

PMH presented the first Health Innovation awards for Patient-Centred Care. This award, presented on be-half of PMH and Shared Health, recognizes initiatives that directly resulted in positive improvements to processes, clinical approaches and the culture of patient-centred care.
